I just wanted to share something with you today that I witnessed while getting gas. You know when your marketing on the internet. I don’t care if your selling products, services, in mlm/network markeitng whatever. The goal is to market. You have to be a master at marketing.
Not only do you have to be a master but you need to do things different then everyone else. You need to seperate yourself from the pack.
Here is a perfect example of what I mean. In my area I’ve noticed a lot of Glass Repair business popping up. They pitch a tent at the different local gas stations and sit there waiting for business. Now this is a great idea because they are putting themselves in front of their target audience. And I guess it’s working because they are there all the time.
But today I met an glass repair company that is thinking a bit different. This is what happen. I pulled up to the pump and got out of my car. A man approached me and said “We are a having a customer appreciation day today and want to wash your car windows for free while you pump your gas” I said “sure thanks”. I then noticed his shirt. On the left side he had a name tag from the gas station but on the right he had his glass repair company logo embroidered on his shirt.
As he was cleaning my windshield he asked “you must travel a lot in your car” which i answered “Yes I do, how did you know” he said “I noticed several chips in your front windshield which could lead to big cracks”. He then asked which insurance company I used which I told him. He then proceeded to tell me that he could completely fix the front windshield for $40 and I could get re-funded from my insurance company if I wanted to.
I declined, but as I looked around the station I saw 2 other employees doing the same thing and I witnessed one of them making a sale.
What a genius idea. While all the other window repair places are waiting for the business to come to them. This guy is being very pro-active and making it happen by offering a very useful service up-front for free (cleaning the windows). Then the potential customers guard is down then they move in for the sale.
When you out there on the net doing your thing. Remember this story. Be different. Give quality stuff away for free first then work at selling your stuff later.

Did you take the person’s card who cleaned your windshields? That was a great way to get traffic and future customers. He knew his business, and went out of his comfort zone to reach for new business. Thanks for sharing that thinking out of the box is necessary to survive in today’s business world.
