You may not find the exact opportunity that you are looking for, however I hope to give you ideas for a way to stay home and still make money.
One of the easiest home businesses to begin is a licensed home day care. There are licensing and regulations that you will need. Every parent wants good quality daycare for their children. They also want someone they trust to take care of their children. If this is something you are interested in then you should look into licensing in your area.
Billing service is something that many companies are looking for. With companies laying off employees many no longer have employees doing their billing services for them. Some companies only need assistance with their billing on a weekly or monthly basis and cannot afford to hire a full time employee to do so. You could provide this service to companies with monthly invoices. You can even increase these fees by adding collection services as well.
If you have experience in bookkeeping you could turn that experience into a lucrative home business. This is in demand for the same reasons as billing services are. With this business you can visit your customer’s offices regularly while doing majority of the work in your home. Consulting with the client’s accountants can also be helpful because they can tell you how they prefer how they like the records kept.
If you are more of a creative person you could make candles and sell them online. Many people enjoy candles and you will find them in most homes. You could make your own unique candles and sell them for a profit. You can make candles at a relatively low cost. Online selling isn’t your only option either you can sell them at craft shows, mail order, or even gift and specialty stores.
If you are excellent with handcrafts you could create a business around whatever craft is your specialty. The industry generates almost $10 billion dollars a year. It can be difficult to find the market for your particular craft, but it can be done.
If you have experience in meal planning, a menu planning business may be for you. Many people are on special diets and have a hard time sticking to those diets. You could provide people with a monthly menu with recipes and even a grocery list.
Referral services come in handy to people that do not have the time to look for the best handyman, daycare, or any other type of service. You can do the leg work for these people for a business. You can specialize in a specific field or have a general referral service. You can be paid by both customers and sometimes even the business you are referring.
This is only a small sampling of the business opportunities available for moms. You don’t have to be a mom to start one of these businesses either.
