When you want to be able to work from home you have many options. The first thing you need to figure out is how to work from your home computer. Do you want a job? Or do you want a home based business? That is an important question to ask yourself before you even begin to seek out opportunities. Not everyone is cut out to run their own business. You just have to be honest with yourself to know which is better suited to your life and needs.
At some point or another in our working careers we have all wanted to fire our boss. Most of the time, we don’t because you need the job. Many of us figure that working from home is the perfect solution to this problem. However that isn’t necessarily the case. A work at home job is still just that, a job, which means you still have a boss who you are responsible to. This can be a solution though. When you don’t have to see the boss everyday and interact with them, it can solve the problem. Other people still do not want a boss of any kind. Which type of person are you? Remember to be honest with yourself.
When you want to work from your home computer the important thing isn’t whether a job or business is better. The important thing is which way is better for you. There are benefits and challenges on both ends of the spectrum.
Home Job
The biggest challenge is that regardless of where you are doing your work a job is still a job. You still have a boss and you are still required to meet deadlines while following the company’s rules. The amount of money you make is decided upon by someone other than yourself. The benefits of working from home are that you don’t have to find your own clients and your income will continue to be the same as long as you do your work and have the job. Whether or not the business is making money does not affect you unless you get laid off.
Home based business
The number one benefit is obvious. The only boss you have is you, yourself. You make the rules and your schedule. Sometimes however your clientele will make those decisions for you. The great part is that if you don’t like the terms set forth by a client, then you can decide not to accept their business. The challenge is that your success or failure rests on your shoulders. Running your own business is a huge responsibility. Also if your profits suffer than you have no money coming in. There is also no limit to your earning potential as long as your business is running well. When starting your own business it will consume a lot of your time. So you have to be prepared for that.
When it comes down to it, YOU are the only one who can make this decision for you. No one knows you better than the person looking back at you in the mirror. Be honest about what you want and what you are capable of. It can save you a lot of time and money.
